Supporting Ethical Decision Making Group

In line with recent Scottish Government guidance (documents below) we have established an NHSG Supporting Ethical Decision Making Group involving colleagues from NHS Highland, Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland.  This group is chaired by Luan Grugeon, a Non-executive Director of NHS Grampian and Vice-Chair of Aberdeen City Integration Joint Board, and includes members from a diverse range of clinical, public health and social work backgrounds along with lay representation.

The group will meet weekly to provide ethical advice and guidance to the Clinical Board and Silver command but are available and able to offer timely ethical decision making support to clinicians on individual complex issues.

The group can be contacted on the dedicated email address – this will be managed 8am – 6pm with out of hours contact via switch board.  The attached SBAR should be completed for referrals and sent to the email address and a copy will be returned to the referrer for storage in the patient’s record if advice is sought regarding individual patients.
